Bacanha Syrup

Bacanha — Organic Syrups from the French Flavor Tradition

Bacanha stands for organic syrups that derive their taste from real fruit, flower, and herb aromas — not from artificial flavors. The French manufacturer works with aroma specialists from the hinterland of the Côte d'Azur to produce syrups whose taste is truly comparable to the original. At ginussland.com, you will find the entire Bacanha line under one roof — from elderflower to grenadine to yuzu.

Flavors from Grasse — French Tradition of Scent and Flavor Extraction

The southern French city of Grasse, in the hinterland of the Côte d'Azur, has been considered the world capital of perfumery since the 18th century. Here, the art of aroma extraction has been refined over centuries — extraction, enfleurage, distillation, and expression are processes that were originally developed for perfumery but can be used equally for food flavoring. Bacanha sources its basic aroma ingredients from the Grasse region, thereby utilizing artisanal knowledge that exists in this depth in only a few places in the world.

Organic Cane Sugar as a Base Instead of Industrial Sugar

Instead of working with refined industrial sugar, Bacanha uses organic cane sugar directly from a sugarcane cooperative in Brazil. The advantage is not only ecological but also in taste: organic cane sugar has its own caramel notes that make the syrup rounder and give the actual flavor more depth. The syrups do not contain artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives — the purity of the ingredients is Bacanha's most important promise.

The Bacanha Product Range

Classics. Elderflower, grenadine, vanilla, strawberry, and peach are among Bacanha's bestsellers. Anyone looking for an elderflower syrup whose aroma actually tastes like freshly infused blossoms will find the reference here.

Exotic Varieties. Yuzu, bergamot, lychee, violet, and passion fruit expand the classic syrup world with flavors rarely found in standard assortments. Yuzu — the Japanese citrus fruit with a distinct aroma between lime and tangerine — is excellent as a cocktail modifier or as an addition to soda water.

Cocktail Classics. Mojito syrup, orgeat (almond milk syrup), and grenadine are the essential syrups for a well-stocked home bar. With them, you can create alcohol-free cocktails that are in no way inferior in taste to their alcoholic originals.

Aromatic Specialties. Basil, ginger, mint, verbena, and rose appeal to lovers of special flavors — as an addition to tea, in yogurt, or as an aperitif component.

Seasonal Varieties. Pumpkin Spice, Speculoos, and Cookie are Bacanha's answer to autumn and winter tastes — as an addition to coffee or as a cocktail component.

What You Use Bacanha Syrups For

• As a cocktail component — alcohol-free Mojitos, alcohol-free Bellinis, alcohol-free syrup spritz with soda
• As a lemonade base — one tablespoon of syrup in 200 ml of soda water makes a premium lemonade
• In coffee — vanilla, caramel, or pumpkin spice replace classic latte macchiato syrup with style
• In yogurt or over ice cream — peach, strawberry, or elderflower as a topping
• In baked goods — elderflower syrup in cake, violet syrup in buttercream
• As a gift — Bacanha gift sets with two harmonizing varieties (Yuzu & Ginger, Passion Fruit & Elderflower, Vanilla & Hazelnut) are popular hostess gifts

Frequent Questions about Bacanha

What distinguishes Bacanha from industrial syrups?
Industrial syrups often use artificial flavors, colors, and preservatives, and are based on refined sugar or glucose-fructose syrup. Bacanha uses real flavors from the French aroma tradition (Grasse), organic cane sugar, and does not use artificial additives. The difference is recognizable in direct comparison: a Bacanha elderflower syrup tastes like real elderflowers, an industrial syrup tastes like "elderflower flavor."

Are Bacanha syrups gluten-free and vegan?
Bacanha syrups are generally gluten-free and vegan, as they consist exclusively of organic cane sugar, water, and natural flavors. The exact ingredient list is indicated on each product — for specialty items (such as the Pumpkin Spice line with spice blends), it is worth checking the ingredients.

How long does a Bacanha syrup last after opening?
An unopened bottle will last one to two years when stored in a dark, cool place. After opening, the syrup can be kept in the refrigerator for about three months. Aroma-intensive varieties such as violet, rose, or bergamot taste most impressive on the day of opening — the aromas lose some depth over time.

Which Bacanha syrup is suitable for alcohol-free Aperol Spritz variations?
For an alcohol-free Aperol Spritz inspiration, we recommend grenadine syrup or bergamot syrup as the bitter component, combined with alcohol-free sparkling wine or sparkling tea and a dash of soda water. For those who prefer it fruitier, add peach or yuzu syrup.
