Saltverk

Saltverk – Salt Flakes from Iceland

Saltverk salt flakes from Iceland are a unique, crispy, pure sea salt from the Westfjords of Iceland. In Reykjanes, in a remote location in the Icelandic Westfjords, Saltverk produces sea salt flakes. For the sustainable production of the salt, Saltverk uses only the green geothermal energy from the hot geysers of the Nordic island, so the CO2 footprint of salt production is zero. The only raw material is the pristine, clean seawater of the Westfjords. Saltverk salt is the world's first artisanal salt produced with 100% geothermal energy. Saltverk uses an artisanal, sustainable, and environmentally friendly 17th-century method. Saltverk salt is an entirely regional, sustainable product.

Saltverk – from the wilderness to the world's best restaurants

In Reykjanes, where Saltverk produces its salt flakes, there is still untouched nature with intact fauna, whales, seals, and many birds. Not to mention the hot springs, after which the place is named, which are still active and spread throughout Reykjanes. It is fascinating that Saltverk has managed to bring the salt from this wilderness into the kitchens of the world's best restaurants, such as Noma, Relæ, or Amass in Copenhagen, and Richard Hart of Hart Bageri, former head baker at Tartine in San Francisco, also bakes with the Icelandic salt.
